Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Remove SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the top edge of the phone to eject and remove the SIM tray.

Heat Back Cover
2 minApply heat to the edges of the rear glass cover for 2 minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

Apply Suction Cup
2 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover and pull upward to create a slight gap.

Slice Rear Adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along all four edges to slice the perimeter adhesive.

Remove Rear Glass
1 minLift the rear glass panel clear off the chassis and place it on a clean surface.

Unscrew Midframe Assembly
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 14 screws securing the plastic midframe and wireless charging coil.

Pry Out Midframe
2 minInsert a spudger under the top edge of the plastic midframe and gently pop it out of the chassis.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Disconnect Volume Button Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the volume key flex connector from the left side of the motherboard.

Peel Volume Flex Assembly
3 minGently pry the adhesive-backed volume button flex cable off the inside wall of the outer frame using fine tweezers.

Install New Volume Cable
2 minAlign the replacement volume button flex cable against the internal frame cutout and press it firmly into place.

Reconnect Volume Flex Connector
1 minPress the volume flex cable connector into its matching socket on the motherboard until it snaps shut.

Reconnect Battery Cable
1 minAlign and press the battery connector back onto its motherboard socket until it clicks.

Reinstall Midframe Assembly
3 minSet the midframe and wireless charging pad back into position, then reinstall the 14 Phillips #00 screws.

Reseal Rear Glass
3 minApply new pre-cut adhesive to the phone frame, align the rear glass cover, and press firmly along all edges.
