Step-by-step
- 1
Heat the rear glass cover
3 minApply a heat gun evenly along the outer edges of the rear glass for 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower third of the rear glass and gently pull upward to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the rear glass cover and the phone frame.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minGently slide the pick along all four edges of the back cover to cut through the factory adhesive.

Lift the rear glass cover
2 minCarefully hinge the rear glass open from the left side, keeping an eye on the attached fingerprint sensor cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint reader press connector straight up off the motherboard.

Remove midframe screws
4 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the 14 screws securing the upper wireless charging coil and lower speaker module.

Pry off the motherboard cover
2 minInsert a spudger under the top edge of the wireless charging shield and lift it off the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry up the battery press connector from its socket on the motherboard to prevent electrical shorts.

Disconnect the power button flex
1 minUse the tip of a spudger to disconnect the power key flex cable from the side of the motherboard.

Remove the power button bracket
2 minUse tweezers to unclip and remove the small metal retaining bracket securing the power button flex inside the frame.

Peel out the power button flex cable
2 minInsert fine tweezers underneath the power button flex cable and carefully peel it away from the side frame.

Install the new power button flex
2 minAlign the new power button flex assembly with the alignment pegs on the side frame and press it down to adhere.

Reinstall the power button bracket
2 minPlace the metal retaining bracket over the power key contacts and snap it firmly into the internal frame.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minPress the battery connector firmly back into its matching socket on the motherboard.

Reattach the motherboard cover
2 minAlign the wireless charging coil shield over the motherboard and press down around the edges until it clicks.

Fasten the midframe screws
4 minReinstall the 14 Phillips #000 screws into the upper motherboard cover and lower speaker enclosure.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor
1 minSnap the fingerprint sensor cable back onto its connector on the motherboard.

Seal the rear glass cover
3 minApply new custom adhesive tape to the frame perimeter, align the rear glass, and press firmly along all edges.
