Step-by-step

Eject SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the hole next to the SIM tray on top of the phone. Push firmly to pop out the tray and remove it.

Heat rear glass cover
3 minApply heat evenly to the edges of the back cover using a heat gun for 2-3 minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the glass.

Attach suction cup to rear glass
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear glass panel. Pull gently upward to create a small gap near the bottom edge.

Insert opening pick
2 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created under the rear glass. Be careful not to insert it deeper than 3mm to avoid damaging internal components.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the rear cover to cut through the adhesive. Reapply heat if the pick meets heavy resistance.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor flex
2 minSlightly lift the rear cover starting from the right side. Use a spudger to detach the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable connected near the main board.

Remove rear glass cover
1 minLift the rear glass completely away from the phone body and set it on a clean surface.

Unscrew top midframe shield
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 10 screws securing the plastic top midframe and wireless charging pad.

Pry off top midframe shield
2 minInsert a spudger under the notch of the top midframe assembly. Gently pop the shield off the motherboard and remove it.

Unscrew loudspeaker housing
2 minRemove the 5 Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom speaker module to the phone chassis.

Remove bottom speaker module
1 minPry up the lower speaker module using a plastic opening tool and lift it out of the frame.

Disconnect battery connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery flex cable directly up from its socket on the motherboard. This prevents short circuits.

Disconnect display ribbon cable
1 minLocate the wide display flex cable on the lower section of the motherboard. Pry the connector straight up to detach it.

Heat front glass display
4 minApply heat evenly across the front screen using a heat gun for 3-4 minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup to front screen
1 minPlace the suction cup near the bottom edge of the front display and apply firm pressure.

Insert prying pick under screen
2 minPull up on the suction cup and slide an opening pick between the glass screen assembly and the outer aluminum bezel.

Slice display screen adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around all four sides of the display to sever the frame adhesive completely.

Remove old display screen
2 minThread the display flex cable carefully through the slot in the frame while lifting the damaged screen off.

Clean frame perimeter
5 minScrape off residual adhesive and broken glass shards from the inner frame using tweezers and isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth.

Apply display adhesive strips
3 minLay fresh double-sided adhesive strips along the perimeter frame where the new screen will sit.

Feed flex cable of new screen
2 minPass the display flex cable of the new screen assembly through the cutout in the front frame.

Press new display into frame
2 minAlign the replacement screen carefully with the edges and press down firmly around the perimeter to seat the adhesive.

Connect new display flex cable
1 minAlign the press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

Reconnect battery flex cable
1 minPress the battery connector straight down into its socket on the motherboard.

Reinstall loudspeaker housing
2 minSet the bottom speaker module into position and replace the 5 Phillips #00 screws.

Reinstall top midframe shield
3 minPosition the top midframe cover, snap it in place, and tighten the 10 Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor flex
2 minHold the rear glass close to the phone and reattach the fingerprint flex cable to the motherboard.

Seal rear glass cover
3 minApply fresh double-sided adhesive tape to the rear frame perimeter and press the rear glass firmly onto the phone body.
