Step-by-step
- 1
Remove the SIM and microSD card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the lower right side of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray and pull it out completely.

Heat the rear glass cover
2 minApply a heat gun around all edges of the rear glass for 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Slice the rear glass adhesive
5 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge, lift gently to create a gap, and insert a plastic pick. Slide the pick around all sides to release the glass cover.

Lift off the rear glass assembly
2 minGently lift the back glass off the phone body. Set it aside carefully on a clean surface.

Unbolt the wireless charging frame
3 minRemove the 11 Phillips #00 screws securing the wireless charging coil and lower speaker housing to the chassis.

Pry up the upper midframe cover
2 minInsert a spudger underneath the top plastic midframe piece and lift the wireless charging coil assembly out.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minUse a plastic prying tool to lift the bottom speaker assembly out of the phone frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using a flat plastic spudger.

Disconnect the remaining flex cables
3 minCarefully pop off the display, front camera, and audio jack press connectors from the motherboard using your spudger.

Lift the motherboard from the frame
2 minInsert a spudger under the top corner of the main board and carefully lift it out of the phone body.

Scrub corrosion off the motherboard
10 minDip a soft ESD brush in 99% isopropyl alcohol and gently scrub away corrosion or deposits from both sides of the motherboard.

Clean the interior frame and connectors
5 minWipe down all internal housing areas, flex connector contacts, and camera sensors with cotton swabs lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Dry components with compressed air
5 minUse short bursts of compressed air to evaporate leftover alcohol and clear residual debris. Allow all parts to air dry thoroughly.

Reinstall the motherboard into the chassis
2 minPlace the dried motherboard back into the frame, ensuring all flex cables remain resting above the board.

Reconnect all flex cables and the battery
3 minPress the display, camera, and battery connectors straight down into their matching motherboard sockets until they snap into place.

Reattach the midframe covers and screws
4 minSet the speaker module and wireless charging assembly in place, then reinstall all 11 Phillips #00 screws.

Seal the back glass cover
4 minApply new precut adhesive tape along the phone frame edges, place the back glass down, and press firmly along the perimeter.
