Before you begin

- Wear safety glasses while heating glass panels to protect against accidental shattering.
- Disconnect the battery before handling internal sub-boards to avoid electrical shorts.
- Do not puncture or pry forcefully near the lithium-ion battery cell.

Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the LG G6
1 minPress and hold the power button on the back of the phone, then select Power Off on the screen.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the right side of the device to pop out the SIM and microSD tray.

Heat the rear glass panel
2 minUse a heat gun or hairdryer around the outer edges of the rear glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass back cover and press down firmly to secure it.

Slice the rear panel adhesive
3 minPull up on the suction cup to create a slight gap, then insert a plastic prying pick and slide it along the perimeter.

Remove the rear glass panel
1 minCarefully lift the rear glass panel away from the phone body once all adhesive is severed.

Unscrew the midframe housing
2 minRemove the 11 Phillips #00 screws securing the upper midframe and lower speaker module.

Remove the speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the bottom speaker module and lift it out to expose the lower sub-board.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cables
2 minUse tweezers to carefully unsnap the black and white antenna connectors from the bottom sub-board.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minPry up the main interconnect board cable connector attached to the lower daughterboard using a spudger.

Pry out the microphone sub-board
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the daughterboard containing the primary microphone and gently pry it up.

Place the new microphone board
2 minSet the replacement microphone daughterboard into the bottom chassis recess and press gently into place.

Reconnect all internal flex cables
3 minSnap the main flex cable, both antenna coaxial cables, and the battery flex cable back into their board connectors.

Secure the speaker and midframe
3 minReposition the lower speaker and upper midframe housings, then tighten all 11 Phillips #00 screws.

Reseal the rear glass cover
3 minApply new pre-cut adhesive strips to the frame perimeter, align the rear glass panel, and press firmly around the edges.
After your LG G6 microphone repair
Power the G6 back on and test the microphone repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this LG G6 job before assuming the part is defective.
