Safety

Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the LG G3
1 minPress and hold the rear Power button. Select Power Off on the screen and wait for the device to shut down completely.

Remove the back cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch at the bottom left corner of the phone. Pry upward to detach the back cover clips.

Remove the battery
1 minInsert a spudger or nail into the recess at the bottom of the battery compartment. Lift the battery up and remove it.

Remove SIM and MicroSD cards
1 minSlide the SIM card and MicroSD card out of their respective slots and set them aside.

Unscrew the rear frame
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 13 screws securing the upper and lower midframe covers.

Pry off lower loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool under the edge of the bottom midframe section. Pry upward to release the clips and remove the loudspeaker assembly.

Remove upper midframe panel
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the upper frame panel near the camera cutout. Gently pop the panel off the mainboard assembly.

Extract the earpiece speaker
2 minUse fine tip tweezers to carefully pry the earpiece speaker out of its recess near the top edge of the frame.

Install replacement earpiece speaker
2 minPosition the new earpiece speaker into the top frame recess. Press gently so the contact pads sit flush against the motherboard alignment pins.

Install lower loudspeaker assembly
2 minAlign the replacement lower loudspeaker module with the bottom frame tabs. Press firmly around the perimeter until the module snaps into place.

Snap upper midframe panel back on
2 minPlace the upper frame cover over the top half of the phone. Press firmly until all retaining clips click into position.

Secure frame screws
3 minReinsert and tighten all 13 Phillips #00 screws into the rear midframe panels until snug.

Reinstall cards and battery
1 minSlide the MicroSD and SIM cards back into their slots, then reinsert the battery into the compartment.

Snap rear cover into place
1 minAlign the back cover with the phone body and press firmly along all edges until fully sealed.

Power the G3 back on and test the speaker repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this LG G3 job before assuming the part is defective.
