Safety

Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the LG G3
1 minPress and hold the rear power button until the options menu appears. Tap Power Off, then confirm to shut down the device completely.

Pry off the rear cover
1 minLocate the small pry notch near the lower corner of the phone. Insert a plastic opening tool into the notch and lift up to unsnap and remove the back cover.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic pry tool at the bottom edge of the battery cavity to lift and remove the battery.

Eject SIM and microSD cards
1 minPress down lightly on the SIM and microSD cards to slide them out of their combined tray slot.

Unscrew the rear housing screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 13 screws securing the upper antenna shield and lower speaker module to the midframe.

Unsnap the top antenna cover
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool under the edge of the upper antenna shield and gently pop it off the device.

Remove the lower speaker assembly
2 minPry up the bottom speaker module from its plastic clips and set it aside.

Disconnect the front camera cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pop the front camera flex connector straight up from the motherboard.

Disconnect the display cable
1 minPry up the display assembly flex connector from the top portion of the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Remove the motherboard
2 minLift the motherboard carefully from the top edge and remove it completely from the phone's frame.

Heat the screen edges
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to apply warm air around the perimeter of the display for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the screen adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower front glass near the bottom edge of the screen.

Slice through the screen adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert a plastic opening pick to slice through the adhesive around all four edges.

Guide flex cables and remove display
2 minLift the display assembly off the frame while carefully guiding the ribbon cable through the slot in the frame.

Clean old adhesive from the frame
3 minUse tweezers and isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth to thoroughly scrape away old adhesive residue and glass fragments from the frame rim.

Apply new screen adhesive
3 minPeel the backing off double-sided adhesive strips and apply them precisely along the perimeter of the frame.

Mount the replacement screen
2 minThread the new screen's ribbon cable through the frame slot, align the display panel, and press firmly along the edges to seal it.

Reinstall motherboard and components
4 minSeat the motherboard back into position, reconnect all flex cables, reattach the speaker and top shield, and secure all 13 Phillips screws.
After your LG G3 screen replacement
Power the G3 back on and test the screen replacement function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this LG G3 job before assuming the part is defective.
