Step-by-step

Power Down Device
1 minTurn off your LG G3 completely. Press and hold the power button on the back and tap Power Off on the screen.

Remove Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool or fingernail into the notch at the bottom left edge of the phone. Pry the back cover upward to unclip it from the body.

Remove Battery
1 minGrasp the recess at the bottom of the battery compartment. Lift the battery up and out of the phone.

Remove SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minPress gently on the SIM card and MicroSD card to slide them straight out of their stacked tray.

Unscrew Rear Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 13 screws holding the upper and lower midframe housings.

Detach Lower Speaker Housing
2 minPry up the lower speaker cover with a spudger to unclip it from the bottom of the phone frame.

Detach Upper Housing Shield
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool under the edge of the top rear plastic cover and pry it upward to detach it.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the display press connector straight up off the motherboard.

Disconnect Front Camera
1 minPry the front-facing camera ribbon connector straight up off its motherboard socket using a spudger.

Lift Motherboard
2 minGently pry beneath the bottom edge of the motherboard and lift it out from the display assembly chassis.

Remove Rubber Microphone Seal
1 minUse fine-tip tweezers to gently peel off the small rubber microphone boot located near the lower frame or board.

Replace Microphone Component
3 minUse tweezers to lift out the faulty primary microphone module and seat the new replacement microphone precisely in its slot.

Reinstall Rubber Microphone Seal
1 minPlace the rubber microphone boot back over the replacement microphone to ensure acoustic sealing.

Reseat Motherboard
2 minSet the motherboard back into the frame chassis, making sure all alignment pegs fit cleanly into place.

Reconnect Flex Cables
2 minPress the display connector and front camera connector straight down until they snap onto the motherboard.

Reattach Rear Covers
2 minPosition the upper plastic cover and lower speaker housing over the frame and press firmly until they snap shut.

Secure Midframe Screws
3 minReinstall the 13 Phillips #00 screws tightly into the rear housing to secure all components.

Reinsert Cards and Battery
1 minSlide your SIM card and MicroSD card back into their slot, then press the battery back into its bay.

Snap Back Cover
1 minAlign the rear cover with the edges of the phone and press around the perimeter until all plastic tabs lock into place.
After your LG G3 microphone repair
Power the G3 back on and test the microphone repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
