- 2
Attach Anti-Static Strap
1 minPlace an anti-static wrist strap around your wrist and clip the ground lead to a metal surface. This protects the phone's logic board from static electricity.
- 3
Locate the Cover Notch
1 minTurn the phone over so the back cover is facing up. Locate the small pry indentation on the bottom-left edge of the rear housing.
- 4
Insert Prying Tool
1 minInsert the flat edge of a plastic spudger into the pry notch on the bottom edge. Gently twist the tool to pop the bottom corner of the cover free.
- 5
Unclip Left Edge
1 minSlide the plastic opening tool up along the left seam of the back cover. Twist slightly as you move up to disengage the plastic clips.
- 6
Unclip Right Edge
1 minSlide the pry tool along the right edge seam toward the top of the frame. Release all retaining clips along the side.
- 7
Remove Back Cover
1 minLift the rear cover away from the phone body once all perimeter clips are released. Set the cover aside in a safe spot.
- 8
Locate Battery Notch
1 minFind the battery situated in the lower half of the exposed chassis. Look for the small notch at the bottom edge of the battery compartment.
- 9
Pry Out Old Battery
1 minInsert your plastic spudger into the bottom battery notch. Lift upward to swing the old battery out from the housing bay.
- 10
Inspect Connector Pins
1 minExamine the four metallic contact pins at the top of the battery compartment. Ensure none are bent, corroded, or dirty.
- 11
Clean Battery Contacts
2 minDampen a microfiber cloth with a small drop of isopropyl alcohol. Lightly wipe down the metallic pin array inside the bay.
- 12
Unpack Replacement Battery
1 minRemove your new LG G3 replacement battery from its protective bag. Verify the contacts match the pin configuration of the original battery.
- 13
Align New Battery Contacts
1 minHold the new battery at an angle with its metal contact pads facing the top of the bay. Press the top edge into place against the internal spring pins.
- 14
Seat the New Battery
1 minPush the lower end of the battery down into the compartment until it sits completely flush against the phone chassis.
- 15
Position Rear Cover
1 minAlign the rear shell over the back of the phone, centering the camera opening over the rear power buttons.
- 16
Snap Cover into Place
1 minPress firmly around the outer edges of the back panel until you hear all the internal plastic clips snap shut.
After your LG G3 battery replacement
Power the G3 back on and test the battery replacement function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this LG G3 job before assuming the part is defective. Keep leftover adhesive and screws labeled in case you need a second pass.
