Safety
- Disconnect the battery immediately after removing the rear frame to avoid electrical short circuits.

Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button on the back of the device, then select Power Off on the screen.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the hole next to the SIM slot and push gently to eject the tray.

Pry open the rear cover
2 minInsert a plastic pry tool into the seam between the glass screen frame and the plastic back cover.

Detach the back panel
2 minSlide the pry tool along the outer edge to release all internal plastic clips, then remove the back cover.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to gently snap the battery flex cable off its motherboard terminal.

Unscrew the lower loudspeaker assembly
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws holding down the lower speaker assembly near the charging port.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the speaker housing and lift it out of the phone chassis.

Disconnect the daughterboard flex connector
1 minPry the main interconnect flex cable straight up from the bottom daughterboard using a spudger.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cables
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the white and black antenna connectors off their gold board contacts.

Pry up the microphone daughterboard
3 minSlide a flat spudger underneath the lower daughterboard to break the mild adhesive and lift it out.

Install the replacement microphone board
2 minSet the new microphone daughterboard into the lower recess and press lightly to set the adhesive.

Reconnect the antenna and flex cables
3 minSnap the black and white coaxial cable heads onto their matching board terminals and reconnect the main flex cable.

Reinstall the loudspeaker module
2 minAlign the speaker module over the new daughterboard and press down until it sits flush.

Secure the lower module screws
2 minDrive the Phillips #00 screws back into place on the lower speaker housing.

Reconnect the battery
1 minPress the battery flex connector back down onto the motherboard until it clicks.

Snap the rear cover onto frame
2 minPosition the back panel over the device and press firmly along the edges until all clips snap shut.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush.
After your LG G2 microphone repair
Power the G2 back on and test the microphone repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this LG G2 job before assuming the part is defective. Keep leftover adhesive and screws labeled in case you need a second pass.
