Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minTurn off the Google Pixel Fold completely before starting disassembly.

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole near the bottom edge and pull out the SIM card tray.

Heat Rear Glass
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer along the outer rear glass edges for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear glass panel.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a gap and slide a plastic opening pick under the rear glass.

Slice Rear Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all perimeter edges of the rear panel to cut through the waterproof adhesive seal.

Lift Rear Glass
2 minCarefully lift the rear glass panel away from the chassis and set it on a clean surface.

Unscrew Motherboard Shield
3 minRemove the small screws securing the upper motherboard protective bracket.

Remove Motherboard Shield
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift the metal shield off the motherboard.

Disconnect Battery Cables

1 minLift the metal retaining bracket off the volume switch assembly using tweezers.

Pry Out Volume Flex Assembly
2 minGently slide a spudger under the volume button flex cable to separate it from the inner frame adhesive.

Seat New Volume Flex Cable
2 minPlace the replacement volume flex cable into the frame cutout and press down firmly to adhere it.

Reinstall Volume Bracket
2 minPosition the metal retaining bracket over the new volume switches and secure it with its screws.

Connect Volume Flex Cable
1 minAlign and press the volume button ribbon cable connector into its motherboard socket.

Reconnect Battery Cables
1 minSnap the battery flex connectors back into place on the motherboard.

Reinstall Motherboard Shield
2 minReplace the upper metal bracket and tighten all screws to secure the motherboard components.

Apply New Rear Adhesive
3 minClean remaining adhesive, apply a fresh rear cover adhesive strip, and press the rear glass firmly closed.
