Step-by-step
- 1
Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the bottom frame and pull out the SIM card tray.

Heat rear glass
2 minApply low heat from a heat gun to the edges of the rear glass panel for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass and pull upward firmly to create a gap.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minInsert a thin opening pick into the gap and slide it along the edges to slice through the adhesive seal.

Lift off rear glass
2 minCarefully tilt the rear glass panel off the chassis and lay it aside on your workspace.

Unscrew lower bracket
3 minUse a Torx T3 driver to remove the screws securing the metal shield bracket over the lower sub-board.

Remove shield bracket
2 minGrasp the metal bracket with tweezers and lift it clear of the internal components.

Disconnect battery cable
2 minPry the battery press connector straight up off the board using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Disconnect microphone flex
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pop the microphone flex connector off the sub-board.

Unscrew speaker module
3 minRemove the Torx T3 screws holding down the lower speaker enclosure near the bottom edge.

Remove speaker module
2 minPry beneath the speaker module using a spudger and lift it out of the chassis recess.

Pry out old microphone
3 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the microphone element and rubber boot out of its frame pocket.

Clean frame pocket
2 minDampen a lint-free wipe with isopropyl alcohol and clear old adhesive or debris from the microphone recess.

Install replacement microphone
3 minPlace the new microphone module into the frame recess and press down lightly to set the integrated adhesive.

Reinstall speaker module
2 minLower the speaker enclosure into position over the sub-board and press it flat.

Fasten speaker screws
3 minReinsert and tighten the Torx T3 screws to secure the speaker module in place.

Reconnect microphone flex
2 minAlign the microphone flex cable connector over its socket and press firmly until it clicks.

Reconnect battery flex
1 minSnap the battery press connector back onto its logic board socket.

Reinstall shield bracket
3 minPosition the metal shield bracket over the sub-board and secure it with the remaining Torx T3 screws.

Seal rear glass
3 minApply new rear glass adhesive tape along the frame, align the rear glass, and press firmly around all edges.
