Step-by-step

Turn off the phone
1 minPower down your Google Pixel 8a completely before starting any interior repair work.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole beside the SIM card tray and push gently to release it.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply a heat gun or iOpener along the rear edges of the phone for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Remove the back cover

Unscrew the midframe cover
3 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper graphite sheet and midframe shield.

Disconnect the battery flex
1 minUse a plastic spudger to carefully snap the battery connector off its motherboard socket.

2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding the bottom loudspeaker enclosure in place.

Pry out the old speaker
2 minInsert a plastic pry tool under the loudspeaker assembly edge and lift it out of the phone body.

Install the new speaker
2 minPosition the new loudspeaker module into the bottom housing slot and press down until aligned.

Reinstall the speaker screws
2 minThread and tighten the T3 Torx screws to firmly lock the loudspeaker module into place.

Reconnect the battery
1 minAlign and press the battery flex connector straight down onto the motherboard socket until it clicks.

Secure the midframe cover
3 minReposition the midframe shield and tighten all previously removed T3 Torx screws.

Apply new adhesive
3 minClean remaining residue with isopropyl alcohol and lay down fresh pre-cut back panel adhesive strips.

2 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press firmly around all perimeter edges to secure the seal.
