Safety

Step-by-step

Power off the Pixel 8
1 minPress and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously, then tap Power Off on the screen.

Heat the screen perimeter
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat for two minutes along the display edges to soften the adhesive seal.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress the suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen near the bottom edge and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Slice screen adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the gap and slide it slowly along the perimeter to slice through the adhesive frame.

Lift display panel
2 minGently pivot the display open from the left edge like a book, taking care not to strain the delicate flex ribbon cable.

Unscrew cable shield
2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws securing the metal cover plate over the screen and battery connectors.

Disconnect display cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pop the display ribbon cable directly up from its socket.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minPry up the battery press connector using a spudger to isolate power before proceeding.

Unscrew speaker module
2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding down the lower speaker assembly near the bottom of the phone frame.

Remove speaker module
2 minLift the lower loudspeaker module out of the case using tweezers to reveal the microphone sub-board.

Pry out lower microphone assembly
3 minDisconnect the flex connector and use a spudger to pry the defective microphone board from the housing tape.

Install replacement microphone assembly
2 minAlign the new microphone daughterboard into the lower housing slot and press gently to seat the adhesive and connector.

Reinstall speaker module
2 minLower the speaker enclosure back into place and tighten the T3 Torx screws securely.

Reconnect display and battery cables
3 minPress the display and battery flex connectors into their sockets until they click, then screw down the metal shield.

Reseal display panel
3 minApply new pre-cut adhesive along the chassis edges and press the display firmly into place.
