Step-by-step

Power off the Pixel 8 Pro
1 minPress and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Heat the screen perimeter
3 minApply a heat gun set to low heat around all edges of the front display for 2-3 minutes to soften the screen adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the display glass and press down firmly to create a seal.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a thin plastic opening pick under the glass edge.

Install the new volume button and flex
3 minInsert the replacement outer volume button into the frame slot and adhere the new volume flex cable into position.

Reinstall the flex bracket and midframe
4 minRe-secure the volume flex bracket screw, reconnect the flex cable, and screw the midframe shield back onto the chassis.

Reconnect and seal the display
5 minAttach the display flex connector, reinstall its metal bracket, apply fresh screen adhesive, and press the display firmly closed.
