Step-by-step

Power Down the Pixel 7A
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to shut down the device completely.

Heat the Front Display
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting around the edges of the front screen for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPlace the suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass display and press firmly to secure suction.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a plastic prying tool between the screen and frame.

Slice Perimeter Adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic pick carefully along the perimeter of the screen to sever all remaining adhesive.

Lift Open the Screen
1 minGently swing open the display from the left edge like a book, taking care not to strain the internal flex cables.

Unscrew the Cable Shield
2 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the metal display connector cover in place.

Remove the Shield Bracket

Remove the Microphone Daughterboard
2 minGently pry up the daughterboard assembly from the bottom chassis using a plastic opening tool.

Position Replacement Board
2 minSet the new microphone daughterboard into the bottom slot, aligning it with the locator pins.

Reconnect Interconnect Cable
1 minPress down firmly on the daughterboard flex connector until it snaps into place.

Secure Sub-Board Screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the screws securing the microphone daughterboard to the chassis.

Reconnect Display Cable
1 minAlign the screen flex cable over its motherboard socket and press down firmly to connect it.

Fasten Display Shield
2 minPlace the metal shield back over the display connector and secure it with the Torx screws.

Apply Adhesive and Seal
4 minClean remaining residue with isopropyl alcohol, place new display adhesive strips, and press the screen firmly into the frame.
