Power off the phone
1 minTurn off your Google Pixel 7a completely before starting disassembly to avoid shorting any components.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer on medium power around the perimeter of the back plastic cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower third of the rear panel and gently pull upward to create a thin gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the plastic rear cover and the frame.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully along all four sides of the rear cover to separate the adhesive securing it to the frame.

Lift off the back cover
1 minGently lift the rear cover off the phone and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the midframe screws
3 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the metal midframe plate.

Remove the midframe plate

2 minRemove the remaining Torx T3 screws that anchor the mainboard to the chassis.

Apply flux to the charging port pins
2 minApply a liberal amount of liquid soldering flux across the USB-C port anchor legs and electrical pins.

Desolder the damaged USB-C port

Clean the motherboard pads
2 minClean the exposed copper pads with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab to remove flux residue.

Solder the new USB-C port
8 minPosition the new port onto the board, apply flux, and solder the anchor legs and data pins firmly to the pads.

Reassemble motherboard and test charging
