Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the power and volume up buttons simultaneously, then select Power Off. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before proceeding.

Heat the display glass
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun set to low across the screen perimeter for two minutes. This softens the waterproof display adhesive.

Attach suction handle
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the display glass. Press down firmly to create a tight seal.

Create opening gap
2 minPull up on the suction handle while inserting a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the glass and frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around all four edges of the screen to cut through display adhesive. Keep the pick insertion shallow to protect inner cables.

Open display assembly
2 minGently swing the right edge of the screen open like a book page. Do not strain the display flex cable on the left side.

3 minGrasp the exposed pull tabs with tweezers and slowly stretch them out horizontally until released.

Pry out original battery
2 minInsert a flat plastic opening card under the battery edge and lift the battery from the housing.

Clean battery cavity
2 minWipe away remaining adhesive residue from the well using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth.

Install replacement battery
3 minApply new adhesive strips to the replacement battery, place it firmly into the well, and connect its flex cable.
