Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously. Tap Power off on the screen.

Heat the bottom edge
2 minApply heat to the bottom rim of the display for 2 minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the front glass, just above the bottom speaker grill.

Insert a plastic prying pick
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a gap and slide a plastic prying tool under the glass.

Slice bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the prying tool horizontally along the bottom edge to slice through the display adhesive.

Heat the left edge
2 minWarm the left side of the display for 1-2 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Slice left adhesive
2 minMove the plastic pick around the bottom-left corner and up along the left edge of the frame.

Heat the top edge
2 minApply heat to the top edge of the glass where the front camera and speaker reside.

Slice top adhesive
2 minCarefully guide the pick across the top edge. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3mm near the top camera.

Heat the right edge
2 minWarm the right side edge of the phone screen for 1-2 minutes.

Slice right adhesive
2 minSlice down the right side of the phone to complete cutting the screen adhesive perimeter.

Pivot the screen open
1 minGently lift the left side of the display to swing it open like a book to the right.

Remove the display bracket screw
1 minUse a precision screwdriver to remove the single Torx screw holding down the metal cable cover.

Detach the cable bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal ribbon cable shield from the motherboard.

Disconnect the display cable
1 minPry the display cable connector straight up from its socket using the flat end of a spudger.

Remove the old screen assembly
1 minLift the entire screen assembly off the frame and place it aside.

Scrape away remaining adhesive
3 minUse a plastic tool to scrape off any leftover adhesive strips from the metal chassis rim.

Clean the chassis frame
2 minWipe down the inner rim of the frame using isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth.

Apply new adhesive strips
3 minPosition pre-cut display adhesive along the outer edges of the phone frame and press firmly.

Connect the replacement screen
2 minAlign the replacement screen cable over the motherboard socket and press down until it snaps into place.

Reinstall the cable bracket
1 minPlace the metal shield back over the display connector using tweezers.

Secure the bracket screw
1 minDrive the Torx screw back into the bracket to hold the display connector in place.

Seal the new screen assembly
2 minRemove protective film backings, align the screen over the chassis, and press around the perimeter to seal.
