Step-by-step

Apply heat to the screen edges
2 minHeat the front perimeter of the Pixel 6a using a heat gun or heated pad for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the bottom half of the glass assembly and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
1 minSlice a thin opening pick into the gap between the screen bezel and the outer frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the device to cut through the adhesive layer completely.

Open the screen assembly
1 minGently swing the screen open from the left side like a book cover to reveal the internal ribbon cable.

Unscrew the display connector shield
2 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the metal display cable bracket.

Disconnect the screen cable
1 minPry the display cable straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
2 minRemove the five Torx T3 screws holding the bottom loudspeaker assembly in place.

Remove the loudspeaker module
1 minInsert a spudger under the loudspeaker edge and lift it out of the phone body.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the press connector of the battery flex cable off the mainboard to eliminate power.

Disconnect the daughterboard interconnect cable
1 minPry up the lower end of the main interconnect ribbon cable from the microphone daughterboard.

Unclip the coaxial antenna cables
2 minUse tweezers to carefully unseat the two antenna cable heads from their sockets on the daughterboard.

Remove the microphone daughterboard
2 minRemove the single Torx T3 retaining screw and lift out the daughterboard containing the primary microphone.

Install the replacement microphone daughterboard
2 minAlign the new microphone assembly over the guide pins in the frame and press it gently into position.
