Step-by-step

Power off the Pixel 6a
1 minPress and hold the power and volume up buttons simultaneously, then tap Power Off on the screen.

Heat the bottom edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the rear cover for 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back panel, directly above the USB-C port.

Create an opening gap
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup handle to create a tiny seam between the rear cover and the frame.

Insert an opening pick
1 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam at the bottom edge of the phone.

Heat the left edge
2 minWarm the left side of the back panel for about 1 minute to loosen the adhesive strip along that edge.

Slice the left adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick around the bottom-left corner and up along the left edge to cut the adhesive seal.

Heat the top edge
2 minApply heat across the top portion of the phone, near the camera visor, for 1 to 2 minutes.

Slice the top adhesive
2 minGuide the opening pick around the top-left corner and across the upper border above the camera bar.

Heat the right edge
2 minWarm the right side of the rear panel for 1 minute to soften the final perimeter glue.

Slice the right adhesive
2 minSlide the pick down the right edge toward the bottom corner to release all remaining perimeter adhesive.

Remove the back panel
1 minLift the rear panel completely off the device frame and set it aside.

Scrape residual adhesive
3 minUse a plastic spudger or prying tool to scrape off large remnants of old adhesive tape from the aluminum frame.

Clean the chassis frame
3 minDampen a microfiber cloth with 91% isopropyl alcohol and clean all remaining glue and oil from the frame ledge.

Apply replacement adhesive strip
3 minPeel the protective backing off the new pre-cut back panel adhesive and align it carefully onto the frame rim.

Press the new back glass into place
3 minPeel the remaining liner off the adhesive, align the new back cover around the camera visor, and press firmly around all edges to seal.
