Step-by-step

Power Down and Eject SIM Tray
1 minTurn off your Pixel 6 completely, then insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole to remove the SIM card and tray.

Heat Screen Perimeter
2 minApply heat along the edges of the screen for two minutes using a heat gun set to low heat.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the display screen and pull up firmly to create a tiny gap.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam under the screen near the bottom edge.

Slice Screen Adhesive
4 minGently slide the pick around all four edges of the screen to cut through the perimeter adhesive seal.

Open Display Assembly
1 minCarefully lift the left side of the display up like a book cover, taking care not to strain the ribbon cable on the right.

Unscrew Display Cable Bracket
2 minRemove the single T3 Torx screw securing the metal display cable cover plate.

Remove Cable Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal shield off the display connector.

Disconnect Display Cable

Remove Speaker Screws

Pry Out Loudspeaker
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the loudspeaker module and lift it out to expose the lower sub-board containing the primary microphone.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPop the battery flex cable off the motherboard with a spudger to prevent electrical shorts.

Disconnect Sub-board Connectors
3 minDisconnect the main interconnect cable and the coax antenna cables from the sub-board using tweezers.

Unscrew Sub-board
2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding the USB-C and microphone sub-board in place.

Pry Out Microphone Sub-board
2 minCarefully pry up the sub-board containing the integrated primary microphone using a spudger.

Install Replacement Sub-board
3 minPlace the new microphone and USB-C sub-board into position and secure it with its screws.

Reconnect Flex Cables
3 minReattach the antenna cables, sub-board flex cable, and battery connector to their respective sockets.

Reinstall Loudspeaker
3 minSeat the loudspeaker assembly back into the lower housing and secure all retained screws.

Connect Screen Cable
3 minAlign and press the display cable onto its socket, then reattach the metal shield with its T3 screw.

Seal Screen to Frame
4 minApply new pre-cut adhesive strips around the frame perimeter and firmly press the screen into place.
