Safety

Step-by-step

Power Down Phone
1 minTurn off your Google Pixel 6 completely before starting the repair.

Heat Display Perimeter
3 minWarm the front screen edges with a heat gun or hair dryer for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass screen and press firmly to create a seal.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup handle and slide a thin plastic opening pick under the glass seam.

Slice Screen Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around all four perimeter edges to slice through the display adhesive.

Pivot Screen Open
1 minGently lift the right side of the screen and pivot it open like a book to avoid straining the ribbon cable.

Unscrew Display Cable Bracket
2 minUse a T5 Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal display cable cover.

Remove Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal shield bracket from the motherboard.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minPry the display press connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a spudger.

Peel Graphite Film
2 minGently peel back the dark graphite heat sheet covering the battery and midframe plate.

Unscrew Midframe Screws
4 minRemove all T5 Torx screws holding the aluminum midframe panel to the phone body.

2 minLift the aluminum midframe plate up and out of the chassis.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minPop the battery cable press connector off the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.

Apply Isopropyl Alcohol
2 minApply a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the battery edges to dissolve the underlying glue.

Pull Battery Adhesive Tab
3 minGrasp the clear adhesive pull tab at the bottom of the battery and pull slowly outward at a flat angle.

Pry Out Battery
3 minInsert a plastic spudger beneath the battery edge and gently lift it out from the frame.

Clean Chassis Cavity
2 minWipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery well using an isopropyl-dampened cloth.

Apply Battery Adhesive Strips
2 minPeel the protective backing off new adhesive strips and press them firmly into the battery cavity.

Install Replacement Battery
2 minSet the new battery into the cavity and press down firmly to set the adhesive.

Reconnect Battery Cable
1 minAlign and press the battery connector into its motherboard socket until it clicks.

Reinstall Midframe Panel
3 minPlace the aluminum midframe back onto the frame and tighten all T5 Torx screws.

Reconnect Display Cable and Bracket
3 minSnap the display connector into place and reattach the metal bracket using its T5 screws.

Apply Screen Adhesive Gasket
3 minLay fresh display perimeter adhesive along the outer edges of the phone frame.

Seal Display Panel
2 minAlign the screen carefully over the frame and press firmly along all edges to complete the seal.
After your Google Pixel 6 battery replacement
Power the Pixel 6 back on and test the battery replacement function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
