Step-by-step

Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select power off to shut down the device completely.

Heat the display edges
3 minUse a heat gun or heating pad along the perimeter of the screen for two minutes to soften the screen adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the screen and pull up firmly to create a small gap at the bottom edge.

Slice the display adhesive
5 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slice along the bottom, sides, and top edges of the screen.

Open the display
2 minGently swing the screen open from the left side like a book cover, taking care not to stretch the display cable.

Unscrew the display bracket
2 minUse a T5 Torx driver to remove the two screws securing the metal display connector shield.

Disconnect the display cable
2 minPry the display cable straight up from its motherboard socket using the flat end of a spudger.

Remove the midframe screws
4 minRemove the T5 Torx screws securing the graphite sheet and midframe cover plate.

Lift out the midframe plate
3 minPeel back the graphite film and lift the aluminum midframe panel away from the chassis.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
3 minRemove the T5 Torx screws holding the bottom loudspeaker module inside the lower frame.

Pry up the loudspeaker
2 minInsert a plastic spudger beneath the edge of the loudspeaker unit and pry it out of its recess.

Press the new loudspeaker into place
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module with the chassis pins and press down firmly until seated.
