Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Heat the Display Edges
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the perimeter of the Pixel 6 Pro display for two minutes to soften the strong adhesive.
- 2
Slice the Display Adhesive
5 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge and insert an opening pick underneath the glass. Carefully slide the pick along all edges to cut through the screen adhesive.
- 3
Open the Display Assembly
2 minGently lift the right edge of the screen, pivoting it open like a book toward the left side. Rest the display flat against a stable object to avoid straining the display ribbon cable.
- 4
Unscrew the Screen Bracket
3 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the screen connector metal cover plate. Lift the cover plate out with tweezers.
- 5
Disconnect the Screen Cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the screen ribbon cable press-connector directly up from the logic board socket. Set the display assembly aside safely.
- 6
Remove the Midframe Shield Screws
5 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding the large aluminum midframe shield onto the phone chassis. Keep track of each screw position for reassembly.
- 7
Detach the Midframe Shield Plate
3 minLift the graphite sheet and aluminum midframe plate up and away from the phone body. Put the shield aside.
- 8
Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery connector off the mainboard using a nylon spudger to completely cut power to the device.
- 9
Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the SIM tray hole on the side of the device to pop out the tray. Remove the SIM tray completely.
- 10
Disconnect Camera Assemblies
4 minUnplug the rear-facing triple camera module ribbon cables from the logic board. Lift the camera assembly clear of the frame using tweezers.
- 11
Disconnect Antenna Connectors
3 minUnplug the upper 5G mmWave antenna cable and lower coaxial interconnect cables using the tip of a spudger.
- 12
Remove Logic Board Screws
4 minUnscrew the remaining T3 Torx screws retaining the upper motherboard to the aluminum frame.
- 13
Lift and Remove the Logic Board
3 minGently pry the logic board upward from its bottom edge, verifying no cables remain attached. Lift the board clear of the chassis and place it on an anti-static mat.
- 14
Desolder Corrupted Board Components
15 minApply flux to damaged micro-components under a magnifying lens or microscope. Use a fine-tip soldering iron and desoldering braid to clear bad joints or shorted capacitors.
- 15
Solder Replacement Components
12 minPosition new microscopic components onto the board pads with tweezers. Apply heat and fresh solder to secure the component precisely.
