Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely shut down before starting.
- 2
Heat the Display Edges
2 minApply heat around the outer perimeter of the screen using a heat gun for two minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the display to the frame.
- 3
Apply Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass display. Press down firmly to create a tight vacuum seal.
- 4
Slice Bottom Display Adhesive
3 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a tiny gap, then insert a plastic opening pick under the glass. Slide the pick along the bottom edge to slice the adhesive.
- 5
Slice Side Display Adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick carefully along the left and right edges of the display. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3 mm to avoid damaging interior cables.
- 6
Open the Display
2 minGently lift the screen open from the bottom edge, hinging it along the top edge like a book cover. Do not pull the screen off completely yet.
- 7
Unscrew Display Cable Shield
2 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal bracket over the display connector. Remove the bracket with tweezers.
- 8
Disconnect Display Flex Cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the display connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Carefully set the screen assembly aside.
- 9
Unscrew Loudspeaker Housing
3 minRemove the T3 Torx screws securing the speaker module at the bottom of the phone. Store the screws safely for reassembly.
- 10
Pry Out Damaged Speaker
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the lower speaker assembly. Gently lever the speaker up and remove it from the phone frame.
- 11
Insert New Speaker Module
2 minPosition the replacement speaker into the bottom cavity of the phone frame. Press gently until it sits completely flush.
- 12
Fasten Loudspeaker Screws
2 minReinstall the T3 Torx screws into the speaker module housing. Tighten each screw until secure without overtightening.
- 13
Reconnect Display Flex Cable
2 minAlign the display flex cable over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until you feel it snap into place.
- 14
Reinstall Display Cable Shield
2 minPlace the metal shield over the display connector socket and secure it with the reserved T3 Torx screws.
- 15
Apply Fresh Display Adhesive
4 minClean off old adhesive remnants using isopropyl alcohol, then lay down new pre-cut adhesive strips around the perimeter of the frame.
- 16
Seal the Display
2 minAlign the display assembly with the frame and lower it into place. Press firmly along all edges for 30 seconds to bond the new adhesive.
