Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Disconnect any charging cables before proceeding.

Heat the display edges
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the outer perimeter of the screen for two minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the display assembly.

Attach the suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the lower edge of the front glass. Pull upward firmly to create a small gap between the screen and frame.

Insert a plastic pick
2 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the seam opened by the suction cup. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3mm to avoid damaging internal ribbons.

Slice perimeter adhesive
5 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the screen to cut through the display adhesive. Keep the heat applied if resistance increases.

Pivot the display open
2 minGently lift the right edge of the display and swing it open like a book. The screen remains attached via a flexible cable on the left.

Unscrew display cable shield
2 minUse a Torx T5 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the metal display connector bracket. Set the bracket aside.

Disconnect the display cable
2 minUse a spudger to pry the display cable press connector straight up from its socket. Carefully set the screen assembly aside.

Disconnect the battery
2 minLocate the battery flex connector on the motherboard and use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect it. This prevents electrical shorts during repair.

Unscrew speaker housing
3 minRemove the Torx T5 screws securing the bottom speaker module to the phone chassis. Keep track of each screw position.

Remove faulty speaker
2 minInsert tweezers under the edge of the speaker module and lift it out of its housing cavity. Be careful not to damage adjacent antenna cables.

Insert replacement speaker
2 minPosition the new speaker assembly into the lower frame cavity. Press down gently until it sits flush against the housing contact points.

Secure speaker screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the Torx T5 screws to fasten the speaker assembly firmly in place.

Reconnect display and battery
3 minSnap the battery connector and display flex cable back onto their motherboard sockets. Reattach the metal connector bracket with its screws.

Apply display adhesive
5 minClean remaining glue from the frame with isopropyl alcohol, apply new pre-cut adhesive strips, and press the screen firmly back into place.
