Step-by-step

Heat the screen edges
3 minApply heat around the outer perimeter of the display for two minutes using a heat gun to soften the strong adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the bottom center of the display glass and pull upward firmly to create a small seam.

Insert an opening pick
2 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the screen frame and the outer phone body.

Slice the display adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the phone frame to slice through the display adhesive.

Open the display assembly
2 minGently swing the display open from the left edge like a book, being careful not to strain the delicate ribbon cables.

Unscrew the connector bracket
2 minUse a Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield over the screen and battery connectors.

Remove the metal bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift away the metal shield bracket from the motherboard.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its socket using the flat end of a spudger.

Disconnect the display cable

Disconnect the microphone daughterboard cable
1 minPry up the flex cable connector linking the microphone daughterboard to the main system board.

Remove the microphone daughterboard
2 minGently lever the lower daughterboard containing the primary microphone out of the phone frame.

Install the new microphone board
2 minSet the replacement microphone daughterboard into position and press it down to adhere it to the frame.
