   Power off the phone

   Turn off your Google Pixel 5 completely before starting any repair work.

   Remove the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole on the left edge of the phone to eject the tray.

   Heat the display edges

   Apply a heat gun or heated pad around the edges of the screen for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created under the bottom edge of the display glass.

   Slice the bottom adhesive

   Slide the plastic pick along the bottom edge of the phone to cut through the screen adhesive.

   Slice the side adhesive

   Carefully slide the pick up the left and right edges, keeping insertion shallow to avoid internal cables.

   Slice the top adhesive

   Slice along the top perimeter with extreme care to avoid damaging the speaker grill and ambient sensor.

   Open the display screen

   Lift the top edge of the display and pivot it carefully down toward the bottom like a book cover.

    Remove the display bracket screw

    Use a T5 Torx screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the metal display cable cover.

    Use tweezers to lift the protective metal bracket off the display connector.

    Lift the wireless charging coil and attached graphite film off the frame to reveal the battery.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery connector straight up from the motherboard socket using a plastic opening tool.

    Apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to weaken the glue.

    Pry out the battery

    Insert a flat plastic card or spudger beneath the battery and gently lever it up from the chassis.

    Clean residual adhesive

    Wipe away remaining adhesive strips from the phone housing using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

    Place pre-cut replacement adhesive strips onto the back side of the new battery.

    Install the new battery

    Position the new battery into the phone compartment and press down firmly to set the adhesive.

    Press the battery connector down into its motherboard socket until it clicks securely into place.

    Reinstall the midframe assembly

    Lay the wireless charging coil and shield layer back in place and secure all T5 Torx screws.
