Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Heat the front display
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the display for two minutes to soften the adhesive beneath the glass.

Attach suction cup to screen
2 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the glass screen. Pull up firmly to create a small gap between the glass and the outer frame.

Insert opening pick
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap near the bottom edge. Take care not to insert the pick deeper than 3 millimeters.

Slice perimeter display adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the phone to cut through the screen adhesive. Reapply heat if the adhesive hardens.

Open display panel
2 minGently swing the screen open from the right side like a book cover. Do not detach the screen completely, as flex cables remain connected.

Remove display connector shield
2 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the metal shield over the display cable connector.

Disconnect the display flex cable
2 minPry the display flex cable connector straight up from its motherboard socket using the flat edge of a spudger.

Remove bottom speaker module screws
3 minUse the Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the lower speaker and microphone housing assembly.

Disconnect microphone and antenna cables
2 minUse tweezers to unclip the antenna coaxial cable, then use a spudger to disconnect the lower daughterboard ribbon cable.

Remove the microphone daughterboard
2 minPry the microphone board out of the lower chassis gently using a spudger to break the underlying adhesive bond.

Clean the frame microphone port
2 minInspect the lower microphone opening in the frame and remove any dirt or clogged acoustic mesh using tweezers.

Install the new microphone board
2 minPosition the new microphone board assembly into the lower recess of the phone frame and press down firmly to set it.

Reconnect ribbon and coaxial cables
2 minPress the flex cable connector onto its motherboard socket until it clicks, and reattach the antenna cable with tweezers.

Reinstall speaker module shield
3 minPlace the lower speaker bracket back into position and secure it with the Torx T3 screws.

Apply new display adhesive strips
4 minClean away residual glue from the chassis with isopropyl alcohol, then apply new pre-cut adhesive strips around the perimeter frame.

Reconnect screen and attach bracket
3 minPlug the display flex cable back into its socket, align the metal shield bracket, and tighten the two Torx T3 screws.

Seal the display assembly
2 minAlign the screen panel carefully with the phone frame and press firmly along all edges to seal the display.
