   Turn off your Google Pixel 4a completely before starting the repair process.

   Heat screen edges

   Apply heat along the outer display edges using a heat gun or hairdryer for two minutes to soften the screen adhesive.

   Attach suction cup

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the display screen and pull up gently to form a gap.

   Insert plastic opening pick

   Insert a plastic prying pick into the small seam between the display assembly and the phone body.

   Slice bottom adhesive

   Slide the plastic pick horizontally across the bottom edge of the screen to cut through the adhesive seal.

   Slice side screen adhesive

   Work the pick carefully along the left and right edges, keeping the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal ribbons.

   Slice top screen adhesive

   Gently slice through the top edge adhesive while being mindful of the top speaker mesh.

   Open screen assembly

   Lift the right edge of the screen and swing it open like a book, taking care not to strain the flex cable attached near the bottom.

   Remove display bracket screw

   Use a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the metal display cable shield.

    Remove metal bracket

    Use tweezers to lift and remove the metal display cable bracket from the board.

    Disconnect screen flex cable

    Pry the display flex cable connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

    Remove midframe screws

    Remove all 14 Torx T3 screws securing the plastic midframe shield to the body.

    Detach midframe shield

    Gently pry around the perimeter with a spudger and lift the midframe shield off the phone.

    Disconnect battery cable

    Use the edge of a spudger to pop the battery flex cable straight up out of its socket.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol under the sides of the battery to weaken the glue.

    Unseat adhesive tabs

    Locate the stretch-release pull tabs near the bottom of the battery and carefully peel their tips up with tweezers.

    Pull adhesive strips

    Pull the adhesive strips out slowly at a low angle until they release completely from beneath the battery.

    Lift out original battery

    Insert a flat plastic spudger under the battery edge and gently lever it out of the frame housing.

    Clean battery compartment

    Wipe away remaining adhesive and isopropyl alcohol residue from the frame bay using a lint-free cloth.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Place new adhesive strips onto the back of the replacement battery and peel off the protective backing.

    Install replacement battery

    Press the new battery into the recessed bay, ensuring it sits flat and aligns with the cable socket.

    Reconnect battery connector

    Align and press down on the battery press connector until it clicks securely into place.

    Reattach midframe shield

    Position the midframe cover over the chassis and replace the 14 Torx T3 screws.

    Reconnect display cable

    Connect the display flex cable back onto its motherboard socket and place the metal cover over it.

    Secure display bracket screw

    Tighten the Torx T3 screw to lock the display cable bracket back down.

    Apply fresh precut adhesive along the inner edge of the phone frame.

    Seal screen to frame
