Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Heat the rear glass
2 minApply heat around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive. Keep the heat source moving to avoid heat damage to internal components.
- 2
Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear glass. Press firmly to create a seal and pull up gently to form a small gap.
- 3
Slice rear adhesive
4 minInsert an opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide the pick along the perimeter to slice through the perimeter adhesive.
- 4
Remove the rear glass
2 minCarefully lift the rear glass off the frame. Clean off old adhesive from the edges using isopropyl alcohol.
- 5
Unscrew top midframe
3 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the wireless charging coil bracket. Keep track of each screw location for reassembly.
- 6
Remove wireless charging coil
2 minGently pry up the wireless charging assembly using a spudger. Lift it off the chassis to expose the motherboard.
- 7
Disconnect the battery
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its socket using a spudger. This cuts power to the board and prevents electrical shorts.
- 8
Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the side frame. Push firmly to pop out the SIM tray and set it aside.
- 9
Disconnect display flex cable
2 minPry up the press-fit connectors for the display and main ribbon cables from the logic board. Take care not to damage the delicate surface components.
- 10
Disconnect rear camera module
2 minUnplug the rear dual-camera assembly connectors using a spudger. Lift the camera module out of its recessed housing.
- 11
Disconnect front sensors
2 minDisconnect the front camera, face unlock IR sensors, and Soli radar flex cables from the upper edge of the logic board.
- 12
Disconnect antenna cables
2 minUse tweezers to pry the coaxial antenna cables straight up off their motherboard headers. Do not pull on the wires directly.
- 13
Unscrew the logic board
3 minRemove the T3 Torx retaining screws holding the logic board to the inner frame. Ensure all flex cables are bent clear of the board edges.
- 14
Lift out the logic board
2 minInsert a spudger under the bottom corner of the logic board and gently pry it upward. Remove the logic board from the phone housing.
