Step-by-step
- 1
Power off device and remove SIM tray
1 minTurn off your Google Pixel 4 completely. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole on the side to remove the SIM card tray.

Heat the rear glass edges
3 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear glass for 2-3 minutes using a heat gun set to low to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup to the back cover
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back glass and pull up firmly to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick into the gap
2 minSlide a thin opening pick into the seam created between the glass back and the phone frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive with opening pick
5 minCarefully slide the opening pick along all four edges to cut through the perimeter tape holding the glass cover.

Lift the rear glass cover carefully
2 minGently lift the rear glass from the right side, taking care not to strain the internal sensor flex cable attached to the motherboard.

Disconnect the rear glass flex cable
2 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to detach the sensor flex cable connector from the motherboard and set the glass aside.

Unscrew the upper midframe housing
4 minRemove the T3 Torx screws securing the upper midframe plastic shield and wireless charging assembly.

Remove the wireless charging coil assembly
3 minPry up the plastic midframe shield using a spudger and lift the wireless charging pad out of the chassis.

Disconnect the battery cable
2 minLever the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard to cut power to the device.

Unscrew the bottom speaker module
3 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding the lower speaker enclosure over the charging port assembly.

Remove the lower speaker assembly
2 minGently pry up the speaker module from the lower frame and lift it out of the device body.

Disconnect the charging port flex cable
2 minUse a spudger to disconnect the main charging port flex ribbon cable from the bottom motherboard connector.

Unscrew the USB-C port bracket
3 minRemove the T3 Torx screws that secure the USB-C charging port assembly to the bottom edge of the frame.

Extract the damaged charging port board
3 minInsert a spudger beneath the charging port board and carefully break the light adhesive underneath to remove it.

Position the new charging port assembly
2 minAlign the replacement USB-C daughterboard into the bottom chassis compartment and press it flat into place.

Secure the USB-C port screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the T3 Torx screws to lock the USB-C port firmly against the frame.

Attach the charging port flex ribbon cable
2 minAlign the flex ribbon over its socket and press firmly until it clicks securely onto the motherboard.

Reinstall the lower speaker housing
3 minPlace the bottom speaker module back into position over the charging port and fasten its retaining screws.

Reconnect the battery terminal
2 minPress the battery press connector straight down onto the motherboard until it snaps into place.

Reinstall the upper midframe shield
4 minSeat the midframe and wireless charging coil into place, then secure all remaining T3 Torx screws.

Attach the rear glass flex connector
2 minReconnect the sensor flex cable from the rear glass back onto the motherboard press connector.

Apply adhesive and seal the back cover
4 minApply a new pre-cut adhesive strip around the frame edge and firmly press the back glass down to seal the phone.
After your Google Pixel 4 charging port repair
Power the Pixel 4 back on and test the charging port repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this Google Pixel 4 job before assuming the part is defective.
