Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before starting.
- 2
Heat the bottom edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the back glass for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive securing the panel.
- 3
Attach a suction handle
1 minPlace a suction handle near the bottom edge of the rear glass. Press the suction cup firmly to secure a strong seal.
- 4
Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction handle to create a thin gap along the bottom seam. Slide an opening pick into the gap no deeper than 4 mm.
- 5
Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick back and forth along the bottom edge to cut through the adhesive. Leave the pick inserted to prevent resealing.
- 6
Slice the left edge adhesive
3 minInsert a second pick and guide it around the lower-left corner up to the top left. Reapply heat if you feel strong resistance.
- 7
Slice the right edge adhesive
3 minSlide a third pick along the right side of the rear glass toward the top corner. Keep the pick insertion shallow to protect internal components.
- 8
Slice the top edge adhesive
2 minGuide the pick across the top edge near the camera module. Keep the pick inserted less than 3 mm to avoid striking the flash module.
- 9
Lift off the back glass
2 minGently lift the back glass panel straight up and remove it from the phone body. Discard the old glass cover.
- 10
Scrape off residual adhesive
4 minUse a plastic spudger to scrape away remaining strips of old adhesive from the phone frame. Work carefully around the perimeter.
- 11
Clean the perimeter frame
3 minDampen a microfiber cloth with high-concentration isopropyl alcohol and wipe down the frame edges. Ensure all oils and adhesive residue are removed.
- 12
Apply new adhesive precut strip
3 minPeel the protective backing off the new custom adhesive template and line it up with the phone frame. Press firmly around all sides to bond.
- 13
Install the replacement back glass
3 minRemove the top protective liner from the adhesive, align the new back glass over the frame, and press firmly along all edges to seal.
