Step-by-step

Power off the Pixel 4 XL
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Heat the back panel
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the back glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Apply suction cup to rear glass
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back glass and pull up gently to create a small gap.

Insert opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic prying tool or pick into the seam created by the suction cup.

Slice edge adhesive
4 minCarefully slide the opening pick around all four edges of the phone to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

Remove rear glass panel
2 minLift the rear glass off the chassis completely and set it aside on your clean workspace mat.

Unscrew upper midframe
3 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper midframe and wireless charging coil.

Disconnect wireless charging pad
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pop off the wireless charging ribbon cable connector and remove the pad.

1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket to kill power to the board.

2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws securing the bottom loudspeaker enclosure to the frame.

Pry out loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and carefully lift it out of the phone.

Insert replacement loudspeaker
2 minPosition the new loudspeaker module into the lower cavity and press down firmly until it sits flush.

Reconnect battery cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its socket and press gently until it snaps into place.

Reinstall upper midframe
3 minPosition the wireless charging pad and midframe back onto the chassis and secure all T3 Torx screws.

Apply rear glass adhesive
4 minClean remaining adhesive off the frame with isopropyl alcohol, place a new precut adhesive strip, and press the back glass firmly sealed.
