Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right side. Select 'Power off' on the screen and wait for the device to shut down completely.

Heat the rear glass edges
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the edges of the back glass for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the cover.

Apply suction cup to rear glass
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass panel. Pull upward firmly to create a tiny gap between the glass and the body frame.

Insert opening pick
2 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam opened by the suction cup. Take care not to insert it deeper than 3 millimeters.

Slice through rear glass adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four perimeters of the phone to slice through the adhesive. Reapply heat if the pick meets heavy resistance.

Remove the rear glass
1 minGently lift the back glass off the chassis. Set the glass aside on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches.

Unscrew the midframe cover
3 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper midframe and wireless charging coil.

Remove the wireless charging coil
2 minPry up the edges of the wireless charging assembly using a spudger. Lift the entire module off the phone.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the battery connector straight up from the motherboard. This prevents electrical shorts during repair.

Unscrew the bottom speaker
2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws securing the speaker housing at the bottom of the device.

Remove the speaker module
1 minInsert a spudger beneath the speaker module and pry upward to free it from the lower frame. This exposes the primary microphone daughterboard.

Disconnect the microphone board cables
2 minUse a spudger to disconnect the lower interconnect ribbon cable and coax antenna cables from the daughterboard.

Remove the microphone board
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the microphone daughterboard out of its recessed channel in the lower frame.

Install the new microphone board
2 minSet the replacement daughterboard into the lower housing, aligning it with the locator pins.

Reconnect internal components and battery
4 minSnap the interconnect ribbon, antenna cables, speaker housing, and battery press connectors firmly back into place.

Seal the rear glass
3 minApply a fresh pre-cut adhesive strip to the phone frame. Press the rear glass panel firmly back onto the chassis.
