Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Heat the rear glass cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the edges of the back glass for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the cover in place.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear glass near the bottom edge. Pull up firmly to create a tiny gap between the glass and the aluminum frame.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created at the bottom edge. Do not push the pick in too deep to avoid damaging internal components.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic pick around all four edges of the back glass to cut through the adhesive. Apply additional heat if you feel strong resistance.

Prop open the back glass
2 minGently tilt the rear glass up from the left side like opening a book. Keep it close to the body as the rear flex cable is still connected.

Disconnect the rear glass flex cable
2 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to snap the rear glass flex cable connector off the motherboard. Lift the rear glass panel away and set it aside.

Unscrew the lower speaker assembly
3 minRemove the T3 Torx screws securing the lower speaker module over the charging port assembly. Set the screws aside in order.

Remove the lower speaker module
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the speaker module edge and gently pry upward to unclip it. Pull the speaker module out of the chassis.

Uncover the battery connector
2 minRemove the single screw holding the metal bracket over the battery connector. Use tweezers to lift and remove the metal shield.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up off the motherboard using a plastic spudger. This prevents electrical shorts while working inside.

Disconnect the main interconnect flex cable
2 minPry up the interconnect ribbon cable connector attached to the top of the charging port board. Move the flex cable slightly out of the way.

Disconnect antenna coaxial cables
2 minUse tweezers to carefully detach the black and white coaxial antenna connectors from the charging port board. Unclip the cables from their routing channel.

Unscrew the charging port board
2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding the daughterboard down to the bottom of the frame.

Pry out the damaged charging port board
2 minWedge the flat end of a spudger underneath the charging port board and lift it out of the phone frame. Remove the old board completely.

Set the new charging port board
2 minAlign the USB-C port of the new daughterboard with the bottom frame cutout and press it flat into position.

Secure the new daughterboard screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the T3 Torx screws to lock the new charging port board firmly into the lower frame.

Reconnect the antenna cables
2 minSnap the black and white antenna cable connectors onto their matching terminals on the new board. Route the cables cleanly into their side channel.

Attach the main interconnect flex cable
1 minAlign the main interconnect ribbon cable connector above its socket on the charging port board and press down until it clicks.

Reconnect the battery flex cable
2 minPress the battery connector down onto the motherboard until it snaps into place. Secure the protective metal shield with its screw.

Reinstall the lower speaker module
2 minPosition the speaker assembly back over the bottom assembly and press down firmly to clip it into place.

Tighten the speaker enclosure screws
3 minReinsert and drive in all the T3 Torx screws to secure the speaker module to the frame.

Reconnect the back glass flex cable
2 minHold the rear glass near the device and snap its flex cable connector back onto the motherboard.

Apply new back cover adhesive
4 minClean the old adhesive residue off the frame using isopropyl alcohol, then stick down a new pre-cut adhesive gasket along the perimeter.

Seal the rear glass panel
2 minAlign the back glass panel precisely with the outer frame edges and press down firmly around all sides to seal the phone.
