Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Heat the display perimeter
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the outer edges of the screen for two minutes. This softens the display adhesive securing the glass.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the display. Pull upward firmly to create a small separation gap between the glass and the bezel.

Slice bottom edge adhesive
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge. Slide the pick back and forth along the bottom rim to cut through the seal.

Slice side and top adhesive
3 minSlide the pick up the right, top, and left edges to free the remaining display adhesive. Keep the pick shallow on the left side to avoid damaging the display flex cable.

Open the display panel
1 minGently swing open the display from the right edge like a book. Do not pull the screen away entirely because the display cable remains connected.

Unscrew the cable shield bracket
2 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the metal display ribbon cable cover. Remove the shield with tweezers.

Disconnect the display flex cable
2 minPry the display cable press connector straight up from its socket using the flat end of a spudger. Lift the display away completely.

Unscrew the midframe
4 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding the plastic midframe to the phone chassis. Keep track of all screws for accurate reassembly.

Remove the midframe assembly
2 minInsert a spudger between the midframe and case edge to unclip the frame. Carefully lift the midframe out of the phone body.

Pry out the faulty speaker module
2 minLocate the bottom loudspeaker assembly at the base of the phone housing. Insert a spudger under the speaker module and pop it out of its recess.

Seat the new speaker module
1 minPosition the new speaker module in the bottom housing recess. Press down firmly until the spring contacts align and the module sits flat.

Snap midframe back in place
2 minAlign the midframe over the rear case and press firmly around the edges until all plastic clips snap into position.

Reinstall midframe screws
3 minInsert and tighten all T3 Torx screws to secure the midframe to the phone chassis.

Reconnect display cable and bracket
2 minSnap the display flex connector back onto its socket and reattach the metal shield with its two T3 screws.

Apply display adhesive and seal
3 minApply new pre-cut adhesive along the bezel, lower the screen into position, and press firmly around all edges to seal.
