Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Heat the screen perimeter
2 minApply a heat gun or heated iOpener around the front glass edges for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the upper section of the glass screen near the top speaker cutout.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and slide an opening pick between the display glass and frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four sides of the display to slice through the adhesive seal completely.

Hinge open the display
2 minCarefully pivot the display glass up from the top edge, taking care not to strain the bottom flex cable.

Unscrew the display bracket
2 minUse a T3 Torx driver to remove the two screws securing the metal display cable shield.

Remove display cable shield
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal shield off the display connector port.

Disconnect the display cable
1 minPry the display flex cable straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Remove midframe screws

Unclip and lift midframe

Disconnect the battery

Disconnect lower antenna cable
2 minGently pry up the coaxial antenna head connected near the bottom daughterboard using precision tweezers.

Unscrew the charging port board
2 minRemove the two T3 Torx screws securing the charging port board to the lower housing.

Remove the damaged charging port
2 minPry up the old USB-C port daughterboard using a spudger and remove it from the phone.

Position new charging port board
2 minSet the new replacement charging port daughterboard into the bottom chassis recess.

Secure the charging port board
2 minReinstall and tighten the two T3 Torx screws into the new daughterboard.

Reconnect antenna cable
2 minAlign the coaxial antenna plug over its socket on the new board and press firmly until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the battery
1 minPress the battery flex cable connector down onto the motherboard until you feel it click.

Reinstall midframe
2 minLower the midframe into the case and press around the perimeter until the plastic clips snap shut.

Fasten midframe screws

Reconnect display flex cable

Apply fresh display adhesive
