Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the phone.

Heat the Rear Glass
3 minApply a heat gun or heated pad to the back glass perimeter for 2 minutes to soften the strong adhesive underneath.

Create a Gap
2 minAttach a suction cup to the lower portion of the rear glass and lift up gently to form a small seam.

Slice Rear Glass Adhesive
4 minInsert an opening pick into the seam and carefully slide it around all edges to cut through the perimeter tape.

Propose Back Cover Opening
1 minGently tilt open the back cover from the right edge, taking care not to stretch the connected fingerprint sensor cable.

Unscrew Fingerprint Cable Bracket
2 minUse a T3 Torx driver to remove the single screw securing the metal bracket over the fingerprint sensor connector.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
1 minPry the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector straight up off the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Remove Midframe Screws
3 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding down the upper midframe and wireless charging pad assembly.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minUse the point of a spudger to disconnect the battery press-connector from the motherboard to kill power.

Unscrew Speaker Assembly
2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws securing the loudspeaker enclosure at the bottom of the device.

Remove Old Speaker Module
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the edge of the lower speaker assembly and pry it up out of the phone frame.

Insert New Speaker Module
2 minPosition the new loudspeaker module into the lower frame cutout and press it down firmly until seated.

Secure Speaker Screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the T3 Torx screws around the speaker assembly to hold it in place.

Reconnect Battery and Reassemble
5 minReconnect the battery cable, reinstall the midframe and fingerprint connector bracket, and apply fresh rear adhesive before sealing.

Power the Pixel 3 back on and test the speaker repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
