Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Heat the bottom edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the lower edge of the back glass for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back glass and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
1 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created between the phone frame and the back glass.

Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick slowly along the bottom edge to slice through the factory adhesive strip.

Heat and slice the sides
3 minApply heat to the left and right edges, then slide your pick along both sides to separate the perimeter adhesive.

Slice the top adhesive
3 minHeat the top edge and carefully slice the adhesive, taking care not to insert the pick too deep near the camera.

Lift the back glass carefully
2 minGently hinge the back glass open from the right side, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Unscrew the flex cable bracket
2 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the metal bracket over the fingerprint sensor cable connector.

Disconnect the fingerprint flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor connector straight up from the motherboard.

Transfer the fingerprint sensor
3 minGently heat and peel the fingerprint sensor module from the old back glass and transfer it to the new panel.

Clean the frame adhesive
3 minScrape away remaining adhesive from the phone frame using a spudger and clean the edges with isopropyl alcohol.

Reconnect the fingerprint flex cable
2 minAlign the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it clicks.

Secure the connector bracket
2 minPosition the metal bracket over the connector and reinstall the Phillips #00 screw.

Seal the new back glass
2 minPeel the protective backing from the new back glass adhesive, align it with the frame, and press firmly along all edges.
