Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Heat the back cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on a low setting to warm the outer edges of the back glass for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly near the bottom edge of the back glass.

Create a prying gap
2 minPull up on the suction cup while inserting a thin plastic prying pick into the small gap under the glass.

Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the plastic pick along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive perimeter.

Slice the side and top adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around the right and top edges, taking care not to insert the pick deeper than 3 mm.

Slice carefully near fingerprint sensor
2 minSlice along the left edge using shallow pick movements to avoid damaging the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Open the rear glass
1 minGently hinge open the rear glass panel from the right side like a book cover.

Remove the bracket screws
2 minUse a precision screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal fingerprint sensor cable bracket.

Detach the fingerprint ribbon
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to lift and disconnect the fingerprint flex cable from the motherboard.

Unscrew the lower speaker module
2 minRemove the screws holding the lower speaker assembly to the chassis frame.

Pry up the speaker module
2 minInsert the flat edge of a spudger beneath the loudspeaker module and pry it gently up out of its recess.

Clean old adhesive residue
3 minRemove old adhesive strips from the phone frame using tweezers and isopropyl alcohol.

Insert the new speaker module
1 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module with the chassis housing and press it down firmly into place.

Secure the speaker screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the screws to hold the replacement speaker assembly down.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor
1 minAlign and press the fingerprint sensor flex connector into its motherboard socket until it clicks.

Reinstall the connector bracket
2 minPlace the metal sensor bracket over the connector and tighten the retaining screws.

Apply new adhesive and seal
3 minApply pre-cut replacement adhesive around the frame, align the rear glass, and press firmly along the edges to seal.
