   Power off the Pixel 3 XL

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Heat the back glass

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the strong perimeter adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower third of the back glass near the bottom edge. Pull up gently to create a small gap.

   Slice bottom adhesive

   Insert an opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge. Carefully slide it back and forth to cut through the adhesive layer.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide opening picks along the left, right, and top edges of the device. Leave picks in place to prevent adhesive from re-sealing.

   Slightly lift the back cover

   Gently lift the right edge of the rear glass like a book. Do not pull it away completely because the fingerprint ribbon is still attached.

   Unscrew the fingerprint ribbon bracket

   Use a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the screw securing the metal bracket over the fingerprint sensor connector.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor ribbon connector straight up from its socket.

   Remove the back glass

   Set the back glass completely aside. Clear any residual adhesive tape from the phone frame using tweezers.

    Unscrew the lower speaker housing

    Remove the Torx T3 screws securing the bottom speaker assembly over the USB-C daughterboard.

    Remove the speaker housing

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the speaker box and lift it out of the device frame.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to eliminate electrical hazard.

    Disconnect the interconnect cable

    Use a spudger to pop the main flex interconnect cable off the daughterboard socket near the charging port.

    Disconnect antenna cables

    Use precision tweezers to gently pry up the two coaxial antenna cables from their connectors on the daughterboard.

    Unscrew the USB-C daughterboard

    Remove the Torx T3 screws securing the USB-C port daughterboard to the bottom of the phone frame.

    Pry up the daughterboard

    Insert a spudger underneath the daughterboard and carefully pry it up from the light adhesive holding it down.

    Install the new daughterboard

    Align the replacement USB-C charging port board into its frame cutout at the bottom of the device.

    Secure daughterboard screws

    Reinstall and tighten the Torx T3 screws to anchor the new daughterboard firmly in place.

    Reconnect antenna cables

    Carefully align and snap the two coaxial antenna connectors back onto the corresponding headers on the new board.

    Reconnect the interconnect cable

    Press the main flex interconnect cable connector straight down onto the daughterboard until it clicks.

    Reinstall speaker housing

    Position the speaker assembly over the daughterboard and fasten all the previously removed T3 screws.

    Reconnect battery and test port

    Snap the battery connector back into place. Connect a charger briefly to confirm the new port charges properly before closing.

    Reconnect fingerprint sensor ribbon

    Attach the fingerprint flex cable to the motherboard, replace its metal bracket, and secure it with the T3 screw.

    Apply adhesive and seal back glass

    Apply pre-cut replacement adhesive strips to the phone perimeter, align the back glass, and press firmly along edges.
