Step-by-step

Power off the device

Heat the back glass perimeter
3 minApply a heat gun around the outer edges of the rear panel for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup tool
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass panel and press down to secure a seal.

Insert a plastic opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction handle to create a gap, then slide a plastic pick between the rear glass and the frame.

Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the pick along the bottom edge of the device to cut through the factory adhesive layer.

Slice the side adhesive
3 minGuide the pick around the lower corners and up both sides of the phone, reheating the glass if resistance increases.

Slice the top adhesive
2 minMove the pick across the top edge carefully, inserting it no deeper than 3 mm to avoid internal damage.

Open the back glass panel
2 minGently swing the back glass open toward the right side like a book cover.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor ribbon
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex connector straight up from the motherboard.

Clean adhesive off the frame
5 minApply isopropyl alcohol to a microfiber cloth and scrape away all remaining adhesive residue from the phone's aluminum rim.

Connect the replacement back glass sensor
2 minPosition the new back glass near the frame and press the fingerprint sensor cable connector firmly into its socket.

Seal the new back glass
3 minRemove protective backing from the new panel adhesive, align the glass with the chassis, and press firmly around the entire border.
