Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Apply Heat to Display
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the perimeter of the screen for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the front screen glass and press firmly to seal.

Slice Screen Adhesive
5 minPull up gently on the suction cup and insert a plastic prying tool under the glass edge. Slide the tool along all edges to slice the display adhesive.

Lift Display Glass
2 minCarefully lift the top edge of the display panel upward like a book lid, exposing the display ribbon cable underneath.

Remove Connector Shield Screws
2 minUse your precision screwdriver to remove the screws securing the display cable bracket shield.

Remove Cable Shield
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal shield off the display connector and set it aside.

Disconnect Display Cable
2 minPry the display flex cable straight up from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger, then set the screen aside.

1 minLocate the battery flex cable connector and pop it off the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Remove Motherboard Screws
3 minUnscrew the internal frame screws holding the motherboard assembly in place using a precision screwdriver.

Unseat Volume Button Flex
2 minDisconnect the volume button flex cable connector from the side of the motherboard using a spudger.

Pry Volume Button Ribbon
3 minSlide fine tweezers under the volume button flex cable and carefully peel it off the inner frame.

Install New Volume Button Flex
3 minAlign the replacement volume button flex cable into the frame slot and press it down to stick the contacts firmly in place.

Reconnect Motherboard and Screen
4 minPlug the volume cable, battery connector, and display flex cable back into the motherboard, then reinstall the metal shield screws.

Apply Screen Adhesive
3 minApply pre-cut replacement adhesive along the frame edges, press the screen down firmly into position, and power on to test the volume keys.
