Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Warm the display edges
2 minApply heat evenly along the edges of the front glass using a heat gun for 2 minutes. This softens the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress the suction cup tool firmly onto the lower portion of the front display glass. Pull up on the ring to create a slight gap.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick around the screen perimeter to cut the adhesive.

Open display assembly
2 minGently lift the right edge of the screen and swing it open like a book cover. Do not pull the screen away fully as fragile cables remain attached.

Unscrew display shield
2 minUse a Phillips #00 driver to remove the two screws securing the metal display cable shield. Set the shield aside.

Disconnect display connector
2 minPry the display ribbon cable straight up from its motherboard socket using the flat end of a spudger. Remove the screen completely.

Unscrew internal midframe
3 minRemove the nine Phillips #00 screws securing the internal midframe assembly to the phone chassis.

Lift out the midframe
2 minInsert a spudger under the top edge of the midframe and gently pry it upward. Lift the midframe out of the chassis to expose the motherboard.

Disconnect battery connector
1 minPry up the battery flex cable connector from the top right of the motherboard to prevent accidental shorts.

Disconnect camera cables
2 minUse tweezers or a spudger to disconnect the press-fit connectors for the front-facing and rear cameras.

Disconnect antenna cables
2 minUnclip the coaxial antenna cables connected to the lower section of the mainboard using tweezers.

Unscrew the motherboard
2 minRemove the remaining two Phillips #00 screws anchoring the motherboard to the aluminum housing.

Remove motherboard assembly
2 minCarefully lift the motherboard out from the phone body. The secure element hardware module resides directly on this board.

Replace or service mainboard
5 minInstall a functional replacement motherboard containing an operational security chip module, or perform board-level chip reflow. Clean off thermal material before reassembly.
