   Power off the Pixel 2

   Press and hold the power button to completely shut down your device before starting.

   Heat the display perimeter

   Apply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the front glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Press a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the front display near the bottom edge.

   Create a display gap

   Pull upward on the suction cup while inserting an opening pick into the seam between the glass screen and metal frame.

   Slice the bottom adhesive

   Slide the opening pick carefully along the bottom edge of the screen to sever the perimeter glue.

   Slice the side adhesive

   Guide the pick up both sides of the phone, taking care not to insert it too deeply on the left side where flex cables sit.

   Slice the top adhesive

   Cut through the adhesive along the top edge of the display frame with your pick.

   Hinge open the display

   Gently lift the top edge of the screen away from the body, opening it like a book to reveal the interior.

   Unscrew the display bracket

   Remove the two Phillips screws securing the metal display cable shield to the motherboard.

    Remove the display shield

    Use tweezers to lift the small metal bracket off the display ribbon cable connector.

    Disconnect the display cable

    Pry the display flex cable straight up from its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

    Remove the midframe screws

    Unscrew all visible midframe screws securing the internal metal protective plate.

    Lift out the midframe shield

    Use a plastic spudger to detach and remove the internal midframe plate from the housing.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery press connector straight up off the motherboard to safely cut power.

    Soften the battery adhesive

    Apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to weaken the glue beneath it.

    Pry out the old battery

    Insert a flat plastic opening tool beneath the battery and slowly pry it up from the phone body.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Lay fresh adhesive strips into the battery compartment and peel off the protective backing paper.

    Install the replacement battery

    Position the new battery into the housing and press firmly to secure it to the adhesive.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Press the battery flex connector back down into its socket on the motherboard until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall the midframe shield

    Set the metal midframe plate back into position and tighten all corresponding screws.

    Attach display cable and shield

    Snap the display connector back onto the logic board, replace the metal shield, and tighten its two screws.

    Apply display pre-cut adhesive

    Clean remaining glue off the perimeter frame, then apply new pre-cut adhesive strips around the edges.

    Reseal the display glass

    Align the screen with the phone frame and press firmly along all edges to set the glue.
