Step-by-step

Heat the front display edges
3 minApply heat to the front glass edges using a heat gun or heated pad for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Slice the screen adhesive
5 minInsert a thin opening pick under the left edge of the display and carefully slide around the perimeter.

Pivot the display open
2 minGently swing the screen open from the left side like a book cover. Do not pull it away completely yet.

Unscrew the display cable bracket
2 minRemove the single T5 Torx screw securing the metal display cable cover.

Disconnect the display cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the display connector straight up from the motherboard socket.

Disconnect the battery cable
2 minPry the battery press connector up from the main board to kill power to the system.

Remove motherboard shield screws
4 minUnscrew the nine T5 Torx screws securing the upper motherboard shield and midframe assembly.

Remove the motherboard shield
2 minLift the midframe bracket out of the phone casing using tweezers.

Disconnect camera flex cables
3 minUnplug the front-facing and rear-facing camera ribbon cables from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Unclip antenna coax cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to gently unclip the red and white antenna cables near the bottom of the board.

Lift out the motherboard
3 minTilt the motherboard up from the top edge and carefully remove it from the rear case.

Inspect the Titan IC area under microscope
4 minSecure the motherboard on an anti-static surface and position the Titan security chip under your microscope.

Apply flux to the security chip
2 minDispense a small amount of liquid or gel flux around the edges of the Titan security IC.

Desolder the faulty security chip
5 minHeat the chip with a hot air station set to 350°C until the solder reflows, then lift the IC with fine tweezers.

Solder the replacement Titan chip
7 minAlign the replacement chip onto the cleaned pads, apply hot air until it seats, and allow it to cool completely.
