   Eject SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or straightened paperclip into the SIM tray hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray and set it aside.

   Heat screen edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to warm the outer edges of the display for about 2 minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the thin AMOLED screen.

   Attach suction cup

   Press a suction cup onto the lower half of the screen just above the bottom bezel. Pull gently upward to create a tiny gap between the display panel and the frame.

   Slice perimeter display adhesive

   Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick around all four edges to cut through the display adhesive.

   Pry up display assembly

   Gently lift the top edge of the screen away from the phone like a book. Be extremely careful not to pull hard, as the display flex cable is still connected near the bottom.

   Remove display cable bracket

   Use a T5 Torx driver to remove the single screw holding the metal display cable bracket in place. Lift the bracket off with tweezers.

   Disconnect screen flex cable

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the display cable connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Set the detached display assembly in a safe place.

   Unscrew midframe screws

   Remove nine T5 Torx screws securing the metal midframe to the rear case. Keep track of each screw position for reassembly.

   Lift out midframe assembly

   Insert a spudger around the midframe edges and gently pry it upward out of the rear aluminum enclosure. Lift the midframe out of the body.

    Disconnect volume button flex cable

    Locate the volume button flex cable connector on the motherboard. Use a spudger to pop the connector straight up from the board.

    Peel volume button flex cable

    Slide a flat spudger or tweezers under the flexible cable attached inside the housing. Carefully peel the adhesive-backed cable away from the aluminum wall.

    Remove physical volume button key

    Use tweezers to push the metallic volume button key inward from the outside casing or lift out retaining clips to remove the sticky/damaged key.

    Install new volume button assembly

    Seat the new volume key mechanism into the slot inside the casing. Align the new flex cable contacts into place and press firm to stick adhesive down.

    Reconnect volume button cable

    Align the flex cable press connector over its motherboard socket and press down gently until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall midframe

    Lower the midframe assembly back into the phone case. Replace and tighten all nine T5 Torx screws securely.

    Reconnect screen cable and bracket

    Snap the display flex connector back onto the motherboard socket. Place the metal bracket on top and secure it with its single T5 screw.

    Reseal display panel

    Apply new custom pre-cut adhesive strips along the frame perimeter. Align the display assembly over the phone and press down firmly around all edges to seal.
