Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

Heat the screen edges
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the perimeter of the front screen for 2 minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower section of the front display glass and press down firmly to secure it.

Insert plastic pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup and insert a thin plastic prying tool into the seam between the glass and the phone frame.

Slice display adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic pick carefully around all four edges of the screen to cut through the adhesive seal.

Open display panel
2 minGently lift the right edge of the screen glass and flip it open like a book toward the left side.

Remove display bracket screw
2 minUnscrew the T5 Torx screw securing the metal display cable bracket to the motherboard.

Disconnect display ribbon
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pop the display connector straight up off the motherboard socket.

Remove midframe screws
4 minUnscrew nine T5 Torx screws securing the internal midframe structure to the outer housing.

Pry off midframe panel
3 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the midframe and lift it out of the rear case.

Disconnect battery ribbon
2 minPry the battery connector up from the motherboard to safely cut power to the component board.

Remove loudspeaker screws
2 minUnscrew the T5 Torx screws fastening the lower loudspeaker module to the bottom housing.

Lift out loudspeaker
2 minInsert tweezers under the edge of the old loudspeaker module and lift it clear of the frame.

Install new loudspeaker
3 minPlace the replacement loudspeaker into the lower recess and secure it with the T5 Torx screws.
After your Google Pixel 1 speaker repair
Power the Pixel 1 back on and test the speaker repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
